Mary works for Tailspin Toys. Amped up for her new undertaking, teaming up with an independent craftsman on another item, Mary transfers her venture proposition and plan documentation to a record library in a subsite committed to this extend, and facilitated in SharePoint Online. Needing to share just this record, she breaks legacy and awards consents to the document to an outer joint effort gathering, per her organization strategy with respect to outside coordinated effort. She at that point messages her SharePoint Admin, who at that point includes her colleague, Abdoulaye, to the gathering.

Abdoulaye gets a welcome email to Tailspin Toy’s SharePoint Online inhabitant and snaps the acknowledge welcome connection. He continues through the enlistment procedure, utilizing his own particular Office 365 Small Business Account (Organization Account) however gets an entrance denied. He duplicates the content of the mistake and advances it on to Mary, who sends it to her SharePoint Administrator, Peter. Subside opens a help case with Microsoft, and together with the Support Engineer Alice, set up an investigating session with Abdoulaye. When they request that Abdoulaye get to the document, he can get to the record without any issues.

At to begin with, Alice is inclining towards this being a segregated issue, yet Peter, who has had this same correct thing transpire twice previously, advances Mary the Service Request Numbers of the past two collaborations, saying that he has had reports of this before opening a demand with Microsoft. Alice concurs this is particular, and the two consent to endeavor to imitate the issue. Cooperating, Peter strolls Alice through each progression all the while.

In the first place, the proprietor of a sub-site (Mary) with broken consents legacy will choose to welcome External Users. They make a SharePoint Group and allocate authorizations for the site or library to the gathering.

The Site Collection Admin, (Peter), at that point gets the demand to add a client to the gathering, and he adds the client to the SharePoint Group. Working with Alice, Peter adds her to the coordinated effort gathering.

Alice, or the client welcomed, gets the welcome. At the point when Alice taps the connection to acknowledge the welcome, she too gets the entrance denied. Fortunately, she had a Fiddler catch running and could catch the entrance denied instantly.

She at that point tries again to get to the document, and can open the record, much the same as Abdoulaye.

The Investigation Continues

Since Alice could catch a generation of the mistake, she is promptly ready to get to backend logs. SharePoint Online produces a lot of telemetry information as use logs, and there is a restricted time window when the full logs are accessible before they are thoroughly cleaned of any Personally Identifiable Information. When she surveys the logs, she’s quickly ready to detect the issue.

With broken legacy subsites or things, the gathering has just constrained access to the assets that exist higher up the pecking order. At the point when the welcome is being created anyway, it is done not with regards to the thing, which exists in a subsite underneath the principle site, but instead with regards to the base of the site accumulation, where all gatherings for all subsites exist. Along these lines, the welcome email was sending the client to the base of the site gathering, and not the thing. The welcomed client does not have the best possible consents to the base of the site accumulation, and in this manner gets the entrance denied. Consequent endeavors have the client going specifically to the asset, thus it works.

Subside is currently extremely baffled. He needs to have the capacity to actualize an endorsement procedure to incorporate a type of keep an eye on outside client sharing, and now he’s being told he can’t do that. Nonetheless, by disclosing to Alice the particular business needs he’s endeavoring to achieve, Alice can recommend an elective strategy to fulfill those business needs, while in the meantime, not instructing clients to disregard mistake messages. Together, they swing to take a gander at an alternate procedure.

Sky blue B2B (Business to Business) User Invitations

We will investigate the manner by which Azure Active Directory Business to Business (AAD B2B) interfaces with SharePoint Online in a future article that will be connected underneath when it winds up accessible. However, subsequent to taking a gander at the capabilities and process thoughts proposed by Mary, Peter was not just inspired by utilizing Azure B2B to fulfill his prerequisites, yet in addition energized at the conceivable outcomes for evaluating and security reports accessible to him utilizing his AAD Premium membership.

Subside chose actualizing a procedure where the outside client would get a B2B welcome, acknowledge that, and afterward be coordinated to the asset to which they were welcomed. With Azure B2B Invitation API, Peter could tweak the welcome email to incorporate directions on what’s in store and additionally a protection and assent disclaimer.

As Mary settled and shut the most recent Service Request, Peter was appreciative he and Mary could talk about not only the specialized issue that began the administration ask for, yet the hidden usage objectives that enabled Mary to guide him to a far wealthier and less baffling list of capabilities for him to achieve a similar errand, with less stress and less overhead.

Whenever you wind up talking with Microsoft SharePoint Online Support, make sure to make a stride back, and consider the fundamental objectives you’re endeavoring to achieve. Maybe your Support Representative can recommend another or diverse strategy for achieving a similar goal, and in doing as such, enable you to be more fruitful and more proficient.

Go along with us next time for additional on how Azure B2B and SharePoint Online interface for rich coordinated effort encounters that are basic and secure.

Key Points and Summary

When you are welcoming clients through gathering enrollment, it is conceivable to create solicitations to assets that the gathering does not approach.

This will regularly bring about a solitary example disappointment for outside clients and can prompt baffling help encounters.

When you have a circumstance where an issue is causing various help engagements, consider having those past SRs and the rundown terminations with you to impart to your new specialist, keeping in mind the end goal to encourage speedier investigating.

While actualizing an endorsement procedure for outside client sharing, consider utilizing Azure Active Directory’s Business to Business (B2B) highlights for a suite of instruments that will encourage this sort of process execution.

Much obliged to my Colleague, John Fulton, for the possibility that prompted this post.

Change the fate of business tech at Microsoft Ignite: Register on April 3

Tags:- , ,

The fate of business tech isn’t found just in C-suite technique sessions, DevOps development labs, or effective datacenters that assistance drive advanced change forward. It likewise exists at 20 milli-Kelvin (mK) degrees, a hair above total zero.

That is the temperature qubits—the building squares of quantum registering—exist and perform at, and they hold the key for making creative answers for both rising and hundreds of years old issues.

This year, be set up to investigate quantum processing, AI, and blended reality to make the fate of business with, on the grounds that it’s nearly time to enroll for. At Microsoft Ignite 2018—occurring September 24– 28 in Orlando, Florida—technologists will take a quantum jump forward to bridle the force around these ideas. With enrollment opening on April 3, here are a portion of the best patterns to watch out for as we make a beeline for September:

Handling unsolvable issues with quantum processing

We trust a standout amongst the most imperative advances is to make a topological qubit for 10,000-overlay yield, better execution, and less demanding mistake amendment than ordinary qubits. Microsoft is building up a quantum PC, special cryogenic control plane, and programming stack for programming that others can bridle for critical thinking.

Technologists can utilize the Microsoft Quantum Developers Toolkit, which incorporates a completely coordinated quantum-centered programming dialect (Q#), neighborhood and Azure quantum test systems, and rich libraries and tests to outline their own particular arrangements. You, as well, can handle already unsolvable issues at Microsoft Ignite.

Expanding understanding with AI-helped dialect interpretation

AI is picking up steam in the market. One convincing development is the utilization of AI with neural system based models to give more familiar, human-sounding interpretations for heap dialects. At the point when matched with extra information, a kind of AI called long here and now memory for discourse acknowledgment can build the nature of interpretations essentially. Take in more at Microsoft Ignite.

Investigating superpowers with blended reality

At Microsoft Ignite, we’ll investigate how blended the truth is reclassifying how function completes. Over an assorted cluster of ventures—assembling, design and building, human services, barrier, retail, and instruction—blended the truth is making the unthinkable genuine, mixing physical and computerized universes. Go along with us at Microsoft Ignite in Orlando to take in more.

We’re breaking limits between how individuals make, work, and play. Agree to accept occasion updates to get a restrictive take a gander at what’s next in big business innovation and change the future, and prepare to enroll on April 3.

Gain complete insights with the Visio visualizations in Power BI Preview

Tags:- , ,

Starting today, you can visualize data using Microsoft Visio diagrams from within Microsoft Power BI dashboards and reports. Microsoft solutions work better together—and now, Visio and Power BI work better together than ever before thanks to the new Visio visualization. Any Visio user can sign up for the preview to start using this capability right away. The Visio custom visual is currently only supported in Power BI Service. Support in Power BI desktop and Power BI apps will come soon.

Both Visio and Power BI are highly visual and naturally complementary. With Visio, you can create illustrative diagrams, such as interconnected workflows and real-world layouts, to pursue operational intelligence. On the other hand, Power BI helps you build intuitive dashboards from various visualizations, like charts and maps, to understand complex datasets, measure KPIs and track goals—all to achieve business intelligence. Using Visio and Power BI together, you can illustrate and compare data as both diagrams and traditional Power BI visualizations in one place, driving operational and business intelligence to understand the overall picture.

With this new feature, you can import a Visio diagram from SharePoint or OneDrive for Business into Power BI. The underlying Power BI data is then automatically and intelligently linked to the diagram based on its shape properties, eliminating the need to do this manually. In just a few clicks, and without help from IT, Visio diagrams become yet another interactive Power BI visualization that can help you make informed decisions faster.

Get more out of your data using Visio and Power BI together

Consider this fictitious example: Contoso is a large retailer working to improve its inventory management. Using Power BI, the current inventory per store can be represented in a series of visualizations, including a treemap that shows stock by item (left-side chart in the image below).

visio 1
visio 1

The visualizations are perfect for an all-up view of inventory at this store. But what if Contoso needs more nuanced details, like sales and inventory data for specific clothing racks? What if it needs to understand where each rack is located in the store and how they are positioned relative to one another? Using a Visio diagram of the store’s layout, Contoso can overlay the data in Power BI on Visio’s clothing rack drawings. The resulting Power BI dashboard provides an accurate, up-to-date representation of overall store inventory while also giving it the ability to drill into specific items.

visio 2
visio 2

In the animated image above, the treemap was replaced with individual item racks, color-coded and labeled based on inventory levels from Power BI data. When Tea Dresses is clicked in the Visio diagram, you quickly see that sales are very strong, which helps explain why inventory is low. Similarly, when Suit Coats is clicked in the Power BI bar chart, you see the item is well below its sales target and inventory is still high. You also can see that the suit coat rack is located in a back corner of the store, making it less accessible to customers. Based on this information, the Contoso team might decide to use more rack space for tea dresses and less for suit coats, or reposition the racks for greater accessibility.

Visio visualizations in Power BI offer detailed insights for nearly any diagram type, including:

  • Flow charts for identifying interdependencies.
  • Fishbone diagrams for root-cause analysis.
  • Organizational charts for assessing the impact of hierarchies on process decisions and people management.
visio 3
visio 3

Visio flowchart illustrating a sample home loan approval process for a bank. Using the Power BI charts, the bank sees that actual ticket response times for performing property risk assessments are higher than expected. In the Visio diagram, that process step is highlighted in red and, because it’s so early in the process, could affect other steps in the future if the ticket processing issue isn’t resolved soon.

visio 4
visio 4

Fishbone chart showing that poor working conditions—specifically excessive noise and temperature, which are highlighted in red in the Visio diagram—are the root cause of diminished product quality. The diagram relies on the employee ratings of operational categories depicted in the Power BI charts on the right.

visio 5
visio 5

Dashboard showing how certain people and departments, illustrated by the Visio hierarchy diagram in the upper left, affect different organizational processes. In this case, the marketing and sales department is over budget on tele sales and tele call efforts, all of which are highlighted in red.

Visio and Power BI are inherently visual tools—each helps you to dissect data in new, meaningful ways. Together, they can uncover even more insights.

The next perpetual release of Office

next perpetual

Tags:- , ,

Today’s post was written by Jared Spataro, general manager for Office.

Today, at Microsoft Ignite in Orlando, we announced Office 2019—the next perpetual update for Office. This release, scheduled for the second half of 2018, will include perpetual versions of the Office apps (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and Skype for Business) and servers (including Exchange, SharePoint, and Skype for Business). Previews of the new products will start shipping mid-year 2018.

Office 2019 will add new user and IT capabilities for customers who aren’t yet ready for the cloud. For example, new and improved inking features—like pressure sensitivity, tilt effects, and ink replay—will allow you to work more naturally. New formulas and charts will make data analysis for Excel more powerful. Visual animation features—like Morph and Zoom—will add polish to PowerPoint presentations. Server enhancements will include updates to IT manageability, usability, voice, and security.

Cloud-powered innovation is a major theme at Ignite this week. But we recognize that moving to the cloud is a journey with many considerations along the way. Office 2019 will be a valuable upgrade for customers who feel that they need to keep some or all of their apps and servers on-premises, and we look forward to sharing more details about the release in the coming months.

Delivering a faster and more responsive

responsive outlook

Tags:- , ,

Making your email experience as fast as possible is a goal shared across the team—from product designers to storage architects. Some of that work happens in the UI—an example of this is the significantly speedier web experience we introduced in the new beta. Other work involves the way we operate our networks and datacenters. A key part of keeping performance snappy is to store your data in a region that optimizes performance, which is typically based on the proximity of datacenters to where you are located. Today, we’re excited to share ways we’ve updated to be more intelligent about where your mailbox data is stored. is hosted from multiple datacenters across the world, which provides fault tolerance, load balancing, and performance advantages. Our goal is to set up your account in datacenters that provide you with the best performance. In the U.S. and Europe, that means we will set up your account in datacenters that are in the region where you reside. Historically, we have determined these locations based on the country you selected as your place of residence when you created the account.

But in a world where migration is increasingly common, relying on you to manually keep that place of residence information up to date doesn’t make sense. Our datacenter capacity is also increasing, providing more opportunities to host your data closer to where you are located. Accordingly, we made updates that improve our ability to maintain your data closer to you with greater accuracy.

When you create a new account, we now determine the appropriate datacenters automatically, rather than relying on the country of residence stored in your account profile. So, if you are physically located in the U.S. when setting up your account, your email will be stored in the U.S. Similarly, if you are in Europe when setting up your account, your email will be stored in Europe.

We are also making smart enough to automatically move your account to closer datacenters when the service determines over a period of time that you have changed the region of your primary residence and performance would be improved. For example, if you set up an account in Spain and later relocate your residence to the U.S., your account will be migrated to U.S. datacenters to optimize your access.

Note that we will not continuously move data back and forth between regions every time you travel abroad—the intent here is to improve performance by keeping your data in proximity to where you are primarily located.

Sutter Health moves to Office 365 to help strengthen patient care

sutter health

Tags:- , ,

In our industry, the less time our employees spend interfacing with technology, the more time they’re able to spend with patients. That’s why my role as the corporate chief technology officer at Sutter Health revolves around one goal: provide nearly 52,000 employees with software that maximizes the amount of time they devote to patient and family care. For a not-for-profit health system as large and diverse as Sutter Health—with 24 acute care hospitals and care centers serving more than 100 communities in California—achieving this goal starts with standardizing IT on a leading-edge communication and collaboration platform. We invested in technology that was intuitive and deeply integrated and are rolling out Office 365 across the organization, a move that ensures we all have the latest version of the same tools to work most efficiently as a whole.

Office 365 impressed us as a standard platform that would take care of many of our unique concerns as a healthcare provider. Chief among these are security and compliance.

Exchange Online has revitalized our unified email service across Sutter Health. With Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection, the built-in security features are scalable and enable our organization to increase our cyber defense and data protection needs, as well as eliminate the need for network drives.

We are excited about the potential of Microsoft Teams and Office 365 Video to facilitate the exchange of innovative healthcare ideas and best practices. I am delighted to see the incredible IT talent at Sutter Health using Microsoft technology to strengthen patient care by keeping us connected. Collaboration is tricky in a dispersed healthcare setting, so when we can simplify dialogue between our clinical and business partners, we expect to see improvements in our delivery of patient-focused care. We are already looking to Office 365 Video as a means of sharing educational videos across the organization and exploring the possibility of extending that capability to patients and family.

Skype Meeting Broadcast is another feature of Skype for Business Online that we’re using to build a sense of unity across our facilities. We turned our quarterly Information Services Conference into a virtual town hall meeting that is attended by more than 2,000 employees. We are looking forward to making Skype available on company smartphones via our Sutter Intune Store. We’ll improve mobility for everyone with our “My Virtual Workspace” project, where we are going to use Intune—part of Enterprise Mobility + Security—to manage some 65,000 mobile devices, so our clinical and business partners can access and use Sutter Health authorized apps anywhere they need to. We expect to see productivity at a whole new level.

Microsoft 365 helps businesses increase trust and innovation through compliance with Compliance Manager Preview

business trust and innovationj

Tags:- , ,

The evolution of technology and cloud innovation are democratizing data and in turn fueling digital transformation. Embracing every facet of this digital transformation offers organizations an opportunity to better engage with customers, empower employees, and optimize the creation and delivery of products and services. However, with the increased use of personal data to customize user experiences, new compliance laws—such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)—are a logical policy component of our technology landscape. Microsoft 365 offers a complete cloud solution to help you with GDPR compliance, while Compliance Manager helps you assess and manage your compliance risk.

Compliance promotes innovation by building customer trust in technology

At its core, the GDPR strengthens personal privacy rights for individuals in the EU and requires organizations to provide individuals control over their personal data. To build and maintain the trust needed to manage customer relationships through technology, organizations need tighter controls over what personal data they hold and how they manage and protect this data. Systems and processes need to be modernized to prevent the unlawful use of data, accommodate personal data requests by individuals, and provide notifications of breaches in a timely manner.

Businesses are looking to the cloud for added value

Our research suggests that companies not only see the long-term value of building trust by protecting customer data, but in fact believe their investments in compliance will positively impact other areas of their business—like productivity and collaboration.* When IT decision makers in Europe and the U.S. were asked to identify their top concern in achieving GDPR compliance, “protecting customer data” was the #1 response while avoiding fines ranked #8. More than half of respondents said the GDPR brings added benefits like collaboration, productivity, and security. Cloud solutions like Microsoft 365 are a big reason that businesses see opportunity in compliance. Of those surveyed, 41 percent said they are likely to move more of their company’s infrastructure to the cloud to become compliant. And among leading cloud vendors, Microsoft was identified as most trusted by a wide margin (28 percent), followed by IBM (16 percent), Google (11 percent), and Amazon (10 percent). All told, 92 percent of IT decision makers in companies that store data primarily in the cloud identified as being confident in their GDPR readiness, compared with just 65 percent of those who prefer to store data on-premises.

Microsoft 365 is a complete cloud solution for GDPR compliance

The Microsoft Cloud is uniquely positioned to help you meet your GDPR compliance obligations, with the largest certified compliance portfolio, services architected to be secure by design, and the most extensive global datacenter footprint in the industry.

Our cloud solution is built for power, scale, and flexibility. Microsoft 365 brings together Office 365, Windows 10, and Enterprise Mobility + Security—offering a rich set of integrated solutions that leverage AI to help you assess and manage your compliance risk, protect your most important data, and streamline your processes.

Assess and manage your compliance risk with Compliance Manager Preview

Because achieving organizational compliance can be very challenging, understanding your compliance risk should be your first priority. Today, we’re making that easier with the preview of Compliance Manager.

Compliance Manager is a cross–Microsoft Cloud services solution designed to help organizations meet complex compliance obligations like the GDPR. It performs a real-time risk assessment that reflects your compliance posture against data protection regulations when using Microsoft Cloud services, along with recommended actions and step-by-step guidance. Learn more about Compliance Manager and how to access the preview.

Protect your most sensitive data

Beyond understanding your compliance risk, protecting both personal data and other sensitive content is key.

Microsoft information protection solutions provide an integrated classification, labeling, and protection experience, enabling more persistent governance and protection of sensitive data wherever it is—across devices, apps, cloud services, and on-premises.

For example, Office 365 Advanced Data Governance leverages machine assisted insights to help you automatically classify, set policies, and protect the data in Office 365 that is most important to your organization.

Azure Information Protection scanner addresses hybrid and on-premises scenarios by allowing you to configure policies to automatically label and protect documents on a Windows Server file share. Read “Azure Information Protection scanner in public preview” to learn more about the scanner.

Microsoft also provides external threat protection solutions to prevent and detect cyber-attacks across workloads—whether on devices using Windows 10, on-premises and Azure-based infrastructure, or with our cloud services like Office 365.

One of these solutions, Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection, is built into Windows 10 and helps spot most advanced targeted attacks by giving visibility into threats on your device, insights into the scope of the threat, and one-click response capabilities to isolate the threat immediately.

Streamline your processes

The GDPR requires organizations to be able to identify and locate personal data. Having a scalable investigation and audit-ready processes in place to meet requirements is paramount.

Content Search, a feature of Office 365 eDiscovery, makes it easy to search Office 365 for data related to individuals. Since the results of this search could result in large quantities of data or data that is confidential to the organization, machine learning in Advanced eDiscovery can be used to minimize the data so that you are only providing the relevant data in accordance with the GDPR.

Finally, Customer Lockbox provides an audit trail showing when personal data is accessed during service operations.

Use your favorite apps in new ways in Teams

Teams brings together everything a team needs in one place. You can integrate the apps and services you need, including Office 365 apps like Excel, and ones from our partners, including Trello, InVision, and SurveyMonkey.

Today, we’re introducing new ways you can use apps in Teams:

Include information from an app in a conversationNow you can have a conversation about content from an app without the need to include a screenshot or a hyperlink to the information. In the same way that you can add an emoji or GIF, you can now bring information from apps into a chat or channel message with a simple click. For example, you can search for a specific task in Trello, a work item in Wrike, or a weather forecast, and include an interactive card with that information into a message.

Command apps, take quick actions, and search—all from the command box

Search is one key way people navigate Teams to get to the information they’re looking for. We integrated commanding with search and moved the command box to the top of the screen, so you can now command apps and take quick actions right from the box, in addition to searching across people, messages, files, and apps.

Command apps from the command boxWe’re rolling out the ability to query or command an app right from the command box. Starting today, you can search for information in an app, such as an image in Adobe Creative Cloud or a news article, and easily insert a specific result into a chat or channel conversation. Over time, we’ll add more command functionality, like the ability to create a task in your project management app or start a build in Visual Studio Team Services. Simply type @ into the command box to display the list of apps you can query and command.

Take quick actions with slash commandsSlash commands are shortcuts you can type in the command box to quickly perform tasks or navigate Teams. For example, you can use a slash command to set your status to “away,” add a user to a team, or call a coworker. To get started with slash commands, type / to see the list of commands currently available.
