Outlook for iOS and Android is adding your most requested calendar features

Tags:- Setup.office.com ,  office.com , office.com/setup

Whether you’re planning your next dinner date or an upcoming meeting with teammates, the Outlook app is there to help you manage and make the most of your day. Today, we are adding several of your most highly requested calendaring features, including the ability to sync your shared calendars to your phone and manage and RSVP to recurring events.

A big part of our prioritization of new features and enhancements comes from the votes and feedback we receive from you on Outlook User Voice. We thank you all for your feedback and are excited to hear what you think of our new additions!

Here’s a look at what’s new:

Sync shared calendars to Outlook

You will now be able to view and edit shared Office 365 or Outlook.com calendars, just like you can with your own calendars. Better yet, you can also share your own calendars with others and accept sharing invitations easily right from the app.

If you don’t see your shared calendars right now, don’t worry. We are in the process of upgrading existing shared calendars so that they start syncing to Outlook. However, if you just can’t wait and want the new experience immediately, simply re-accept the sharing invitation from Outlook on iOS or Android. Once you do this, your shared calendar will appear. If you cannot find the original calendar sharing invitation, ask the calendar owner to re-share and accept the new invite from Outlook. And voila!

Manage delegate calendars on the go

For those of you who manage someone else’s calendar at work, you’ll now be able to do this from the palm of your hand. Manage your delegates, accept a delegation request, and fully view and edit the delegated calendar all from Outlook on iOS or Android. And when you receive meeting invitations and responses, we will more clearly indicate if they are for your or your manager’s calendar, so you don’t get them confused.

Get your Meetups added directly to your calendar

Following up on our launch of Facebook and Evernote in Outlook on iOS and Android this year, we are releasing support for Meetup—a new Calendar app in Outlook. Meetup brings people together in thousands of cities to do more of what they want to do in life. Now, when you connect your Meetup account to Outlook, you can see your upcoming Meetups directly on your calendar.

Managing your events is even easier

We are bringing the best of what Outlook has to offer on the web and desktop to your phone, so you can make the most of your busy day while on the go.

These updates are available for both iOS and Android:

  • Create events with daily, weekly, monthly or yearly recurrences.
  • RSVP to a single occurrence of a recurring event series (e.g. decline one instance without removing the entire series from your calendar).
  • See your coworkers’ availability when scheduling meetings (available previously on iOS, now available on Android).

These features are now available on iOS, coming soon to Android:

  • Add a message when responding to a meeting invite (e.g. explain why you are declining a meeting invitation.)
  • Set an event as private, to keep the details to yourself when sharing your calendar.
  • Mark your calendar events as Busy, Free, Out of Office, or Tentative.

Microsoft SharePoint recognized as a Leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant for Content Services Platforms

Tags:- Setup.office.com ,  office.com , office.com/setup

Content is one of the most critical assets for every organization, embodying its knowledge and processes. How content is created, managed, and shared—and how users collaborate using that content—has gone through a drastic evolution from traditional enterprise content management (ECM) to dynamic content services.

According to Gartner, “Content services platforms are the next stage of enterprise content management, representing a shift from self-contained systems and repositories to open services.” To truly deliver on the promise of content services, you must balance manageability with ease of use to unlock productivity gains around your critical business information.

SharePoint delivers content services as the foundational content platform for Office 365, with capabilities for creating, sharing, protecting, and reusing information. Going far beyond merely storing documents, SharePoint hosts digital content like pages, videos, images, designs, 3D, medical scans, and markup as well as traditional documents. SharePoint embodies ease of use with ease of management—on any device, for any user, at any location.

These innovations, along with customers’ transition to the cloud and the growing imperative for secure content collaboration and sharing, are driving growth across Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and OneDrive. More than 300,000 organizations now have SharePoint and OneDrive in Office 365, including 85 percent of the Fortune 500. Active users grew over 90 percent, and data stored in SharePoint Online grew over 250 percent in the last year alone.

Gartner has recognized Microsoft as a Leader in the Content Services Platform Magic Quadrant for 2017. In addition to being positioned as one of only three Leaders, Microsoft is placed highest for Ability to Execute.

  • Content services across Office 365—SharePoint has also become the content services layer that powers content collaboration across Office 365. So, now whether you are co-authoring in Office apps, emailing cloud attachments in Outlook, or collaborating with your team in the new chat-based workspace, Microsoft Teams—SharePoint provides a consistent set of experiences across the applications, along with the security and control that’s important to IT.
  • Support for a broad range of file types—In addition to Office files, SharePoint can store any file and now supports viewing of over 270 file types, including Adobe Photoshop (PSD), Illustrator (AI), Acrobat (PDF), as well as video, 3D formats, and DICOM images.
  • Personalized search and intelligence—Search is smarter, faster, and easier for you to find and filter results that include all SharePoint content, including files, sites, people, and now news and list items. SharePoint even indexes objects, text, and handwriting inside other images.
  • Scalability—SharePoint supports customers ranging in size from small businesses to organizations with hundreds of thousands of users and has a maximum tenant capacity of 30 trillion documents.
  • Security and IT confidence—SharePoint leverages Microsoft security capabilities such as Advanced Data Governance for Retention and Records Management, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), eDiscovery, and Customer Key with consistent controls across Office 365.

Henkel advances digital transformation journey with move to Office 365 E5

Digital transformation

Tags:- Setup.office.com ,  office.com , office.com/setup

Henkel is looking at more than 140 years of company success—founded in 1876, our brands such as Schwarzkopf, Persil, and Loctite are well known among customers globally. As our environment evolves from a mere brick-and-mortar business to one where we see new sales records in e-commerce for beauty care products in a single day, it’s clear that as a company we must adapt to ongoing change. Today, digitalization is a major driver that is transforming our organization, capturing the ingenuity and dedication of more than 50,000 employees around the world. And of course, digital transformation is unthinkable without the constant development of our IT landscape. Three years ago, Henkel deployed Microsoft Office 365 to kickstart a digital workplace transformation to strengthen our competitive position in a rapidly changing market.

We are making huge strides in business cohesion and agility with Office 365, taking an important step in connecting our company through a common set of tools that contribute to increased productivity and agility. I like to think of our IT teams implementing these tools, enabling a modern work environment where everyone uses cloud services to share expertise and collaborate without geographical or hierarchical boundaries. Today, we’re upgrading to Office 365 E5 and taking Henkel to the next level with enhanced security, collaboration, mobility, and business intelligence.

Of course, security is uppermost in our minds as Henkel continues its transformational journey and employees enjoy mobile access to corporate data stored online in OneDrive for Business. While some people might think there is a tradeoff between security and mobility—that is not the case with Office 365 E5. We’re using Advanced Threat Protection as an intelligent defense to filter out phishing attempts and protect employees from clicking on unsafe links and attachments. And as far as compliance goes, we are working with Microsoft to help us achieve mandatory compliance with the new General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR, which is a big topic in Europe now. Office 365 gives us a level of security we cannot achieve on our own. That’s another reason why we are glad that we are on the road with Office 365.

With Office 365 E5, we’re delivering an intelligent workplace, where employees gain self-service access to interactive, graphical reports and dashboards through Microsoft Power BI. Our employees use this service to create their own reports on demand. And for Henkel, there’s huge benefit in supporting efficient, widespread access to business information, such as increased agility in a market that’s moving faster than ever. The possibility to quickly assess the impact of an advertising campaign might serve as a good example: It’s easy to use Power BI to analyze real-time sales data and fine-tune our marketing activities to drive sales.

We’ve treated mobility as a given requirement for the modern workplace for a while now, but with Office 365 E5, we’re introducing cloud-based telephony as another way our employees can communicate and collaborate on any device, anywhere. Now we have a consistent Skype for Business Online experience across all devices, using one business number to stay in touch with colleagues. The faster we can communicate, the more efficiently we can get to market with new products. We’re also able to connect better with our global customers through Skype video calls. Today, we provide the ultra-responsive service that customers demand in a digital business environment.

In the climate of fast-paced, widespread collaboration, Office 365 E5 increases transparency and keeps us communicative and competitive. For example, when we introduce a new product to the market, colleagues from R&D, marketing, sales, and other involved departments use Skype video calls to collaborate in real time to develop and implement ideal strategies that accelerate our business.

What I enjoy most about my role is helping to build the best workplace for our employees to work to their potential in this digital era. Office 365 E5 offers business tools and services that everyone uses to work intuitively, alone or in multi-generational teams. Microsoft Teams is a perfect addition to Outlook and Yammer and it helps round out our solution set, complementing traditional email and enterprise social solutions. Using Teams across the company, we’re more agile and responsive when we collaborate.

With Office 365 E5, our IT landscape continues to provide an important basis for Henkel’s future success, for serving our global customers and consumers with innovative, high-quality products, and for taking our next steps in a digitalized world.

New ways to use apps and get more done in Microsoft Teams

Microsoft teams

Tags:- Setup.office.com ,  office.com , office.com/setup

New features in Microsoft Teams make it an even more powerful hub for teamwork by enabling you to use apps in new ways—including the ability to command apps and take quick actions from the command box, as well as include content from an app in a conversation. This marks the biggest single release of new functionality since Teams launched last March.

Use your favorite apps in new ways in Teams

Teams brings together everything a team needs in one place. You can integrate the apps and services you need, including Office 365 apps like Excel, and ones from our partners, including Trello, InVision, and SurveyMonkey.

Today, we’re introducing new ways you can use apps in Teams:

Include information from an app in a conversationNow you can have a conversation about content from an app without the need to include a screenshot or a hyperlink to the information. In the same way that you can add an emoji or GIF, you can now bring information from apps into a chat or channel message with a simple click. For example, you can search for a specific task in Trello, a work item in Wrike, or a weather forecast, and include an interactive card with that information into a message.

Access a personal view of your appsThe new personal apps space makes it easy for you to access the apps you care about and see all the items that you have been assigned to across apps, like tasks in Planner, issues in Jira Cloud, or your filters or pull requests in Bitbucket Cloud. You can also easily see items you have recently accessed, such as OneNote notebooks or videos from Microsoft Stream.

Here you will also find Whoa new app powered by the Microsoft Graph—which allows you to search for people in your organization by name or topic. To access your personal apps space, click the  in the left navigation menu.

Discover apps for Teams in the new StoreWe made it easier to search and discover apps and services available in Teams in the new Store. Now you can search for apps by name, category (such as Project management or Analytics and BI), or integration type (such as Bots, Tabs, or Connectors), and then choose to surface in your personal app view or in a specific channel in Teams.

Command apps, take quick actions, and search—all from the command box

Search is one key way people navigate Teams to get to the information they’re looking for. We integrated commanding with search and moved the command box to the top of the screen, so you can now command apps and take quick actions right from the box, in addition to searching across people, messages, files, and apps.

Command apps from the command boxWe’re rolling out the ability to query or command an app right from the command box. Starting today, you can search for information in an app, such as an image in Adobe Creative Cloud or a news article, and easily insert a specific result into a chat or channel conversation. Over time, we’ll add more command functionality, like the ability to create a task in your project management app or start a build in Visual Studio Team Services. Simply type @ into the command box to display the list of apps you can query and command.

Take quick actions with slash commandsSlash commands are shortcuts you can type in the command box to quickly perform tasks or navigate Teams. For example, you can use a slash command to set your status to “away,” add a user to a team, or call a coworker. To get started with slash commands, type / to see the list of commands currently available.
